Committee Help For 2014-2015

The PTA Board has been busy planning a fun and rewarding 2014-2015 school year. While we’ve filled a great deal of committee chair positions, we are still looking for a few good men and women to oversee some of the BMES “favorites.”

Chairing a committee doesn’t mean that you are all alone! You will have a board member to help guide you and provide resources and you can pick a friend(s) to lead additional volunteer support. Sign up genius links can be sent through BearPosts and the PTA will make copies for marketing flyers. Many positions can be accommodated to fit both working and stay-at-home parents.

The kids and community look forward to these events every year and they all make BMES what it is.

Please contact us (https://bellsmill.org/contact-us/) with any questions. Below is an overview of open positions and brief descriptions:

  • After School Activities Co-Chair— Work with PTA Board Member Kellie Zuba to coordinate and fill the calendar for fall, winter and spring enrichment after-school activities. Work with interested vendors on contracts and coordinate parent feedback into new programs for the kids.
  • Club Bells Mill — 2 person committee and we need two people! 4 Saturday Nights a year BMES turns into a party just for kids. Parents can drop off their BMES-aged students for 2 hours of fun. There is a strong working template for this program — including a list of DJs and interested vendors wanting to return. We need a two-partner team to market and manage the activity. The primary grades particularly favor this event.
  • International Night — 2 person committee and we need two people! 1 Friday Night in the spring BMES families come together to learn about the many places from which our community hails! The coordinators of this event oversee the many families who want to create their own table and then execute the evening. Each participating family oversees their own table of history and food. This program has a successful template and is a favorite community event.
  • Kinder Orientation — Work with PTA Pres Elect Kysha Pierre-Louis to coordinate welcoming new families for 2 days in the spring when Kindergarten Orientation takes place. Current Kindergartners are out of school these two days.
  • Recess Coordinator — Manage the sign-up genius for recess and oversee the volunteer training early in the school year. Program has a successful template. This position DOES NOT require daily attendance to recess. It does require some check-ins to make sure that the process is working. Bear Posts will send out all sign-up geniuses on a weekly basis throughout the school year.
  • Yearbook/Photography — Do you miss scrapbooking from when your kids were little? Then this job is for you! Manage a crew of interested parent photographers via sign-up genius and work with yearbook vendor to layout and create the annual BMES yearbook. You are not responsible for all photos. We will help create a committee and central system so that many of the talented BMES parent photographers can provide content for the yearbook.
  • Back-to-School Breakfast — Are you in town the week of August 19 and looking for a fun and rewarding way to directly impact our teachers? We need a coordinator to manage parent volunteers for the annual back-to-school breakfast.
