  • Be sure to receive important back to school information in August.  Sign up to receive electronic Bear Post communications.  Bear Posts are weekly messages that include the principal’s weekly newsletter, important event dates and school news.  If you have not already done so, please visit the PTA website and enter your email address to receive Bear Post communications.  Please encourage neighbors who are new to Bells Mill to sign up too.

  • A message from Mrs. O about class assignments:  It is hard to imagine that the year is over.  Thank you for all your support this school year.  The staff and I considered all input into our discussions concerning classroom assignments for next school year.  In addition we included student voice into the decision making process.  The staff has spent many hours outside the school day on this process.  We have created well-balanced classes with the best interests of all children being considered.  With that said, our process is now complete.  There will be no changes made.  Your child will receive a phone call the Thursday prior to the opening of school letting them know their class assignment.  We wish all of our families a happy and safe summer.  Best of luck to our fifth graders going to middle school.  Thank you to all families who are leaving Bells Mill.  We will miss you.

  • Staffing updates:  I would like to recognize and thank Mrs. Lois Hough, reading specialist, for her service to the children of Bells Mill Elementary and Montgomery County Public Schools.  Mrs. Hough is retiring after a career of 41 years in MCPS.  We wish her all the best as she begins this new time in her life.
  • There is one other staff change for next year.  We are moving from four to three fifth grade classes and from three to four fourth grade classes.  To accommodate this change, Mrs. Tannenbaum will be moving to fourth grade next year.
  • As a parting gift to the school, 5th grade students have purchased and decorated two large planters for the front entrance.  Thank you to the 5th graders for giving back to Bells Mill.
  • Special thanks to Mrs. Wilkes’ class for their generous donation to the Bear Hug Fund.
  • We wish all of our families a very happy and fun summer.  Practice your math facts and READ, READ, READ!  August will be here before you know it!
