MLK Day of Service Activities for All Ages

Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national day of service with
lots of opportunities for people of all ages to serve our community locally
throughout the holiday weekend, most of them preapproved for student
service learning hours. Here are some ways to get involved:

*Montgomery County’s MLK Day of Service Multi-Project Event & Volunteer
Fair*: Monday, Jan. 15, 1-3 pm, Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference
Center (5701 Marinelli Road, North Bethesda). Participate in your choice of
dozens of family-friendly service projects addressing a range of issues,
including packaging food for the hungry, crafting costumes for kids in
hospitals, making dog toys for area shelters, creating hand warmers for the
homeless, and writing letters to seniors and troops. There will also be a
volunteer fair where you can talk with local nonprofits and government
agencies about their missions and year-round volunteer needs. Sign up
