  • Thank you to all who refrained from parking in the fire lane during our Halloween celebration.  We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep the fire lane clear in the event of an emergency.

  • The      Montgomery County Department of Transportation Safe Routes to School      program is asking for parent participation in a survey regarding your      child’s travel mode to and from school.  The purpose of the Parent Survey is to      understand the factors affecting whether parents allow their children to      walk/bike to school and the presence of key safety-related conditions      along school routes.  Please take a      moment to answer this 5 to 10 minute survey.  http://www.saferoutesdata.org/surveyformparent.cfm?key=392998.  Your responses are very important. For more information about the Safe Routes to School program please visit http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/walk.

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences are held on the two early release days, November 12 and 13, 2012.  Please contact your child’s teacher and      schedule a conference to discuss your child’s progress.  Your involvement in education is critical to your child’s success.  Dismissal is at 1:00 pm on both days.

  • We wish to acknowledge O’Donnells’s Seafood Restaurant in the Kentlands for their generous support of the Bells Mill staff.

  • Come celebrate Mrs. Kirby’s art program at the All School Art      Show, November 15, 6:00-7:00 pm, APR.       Enjoy student artwork, free face painting, and free cider!  Each student has a work of art in the      show.

  • Are      you thinking of purchasing a piano?  Schaeffer Piano Co. in Rockville is      holding its annual sale of specially-priced upright and grand pianos to      MCPS families, Friday and Saturday, November 16 and 17, 2012.  You must call Schaeffer to schedule an      appointment, 301-424-1147.  No      appointment is necessary on Sunday, November 18, when the sale will be      open to the general public.

  • MCPS has launched a new community engagement initiative called “Neighbor to Neighbor” that provides you with the resources to host and moderate a self-guided, small-group discussion on important topics in MCPS. The goal of this project is to provide feedback to the school system about issues that are important to you. These discussions may be held during a variety of times and places, such as during a PTA or other parent meeting, in a community member’s home, or as part of a civic or community organization meeting. The first discussion will center on what the MCPS community values in the MCPS operating budget. The Neighbor to Neighbor website includes an online toolkit that serves as a step-by-step guide. It includes a short video and documents that provide an overview of the operating budget. It can be accessed at www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/info/neighbor-to-neighbor/.

Thank you for being partners in your child’s education.
