  • Sadly, we must say goodbye to Mrs. Kirby as she leaves us to begin a new chapter in her life.  Mr. Kirby has accepted a position in New York City, so the family will relocate to Brooklyn.  We will miss her talent and ability to inspire creativity in our children. Good luck, Mrs. Kirby.

  • On a happier note, we welcome our new art teacher, Ms. Jennifer Han.  Ms. Han completed her Master’s Degree in Art Education at the University of Maryland.  This is her first year with MCPS.  She has been working with Mrs. Kirby to provide continuity in our art program and has already met the students.  Welcome, Ms. Han.

  • Beginning Monday, October      28, students in Gr. 2 will be able to take advantage of the Salad Bar as a      part of the lunch time menu.  A few details:
    • Students purchasing a lunch will be able to visit the salad bar       as a part of the purchased lunch for no extra charge.
    • The salad bar will replace the side items that go along with the       main entrée, or students can continue to choose the side items and not       the salad bar; their choice.
    • The salad bar will include vegetables that are typically found on       salad bars.  Several dressings will       be offered.
    • The salad bar will be offered 5days a week. Additionally,       students may purchase a salad separately at a cost of 43 cents per       ounce.  No preordering       required.

  • Individual Portrait Day was Tuesday, October 22.  Pictures will be distributed in a few weeks.  If your child was absent on that date, or if you would like a retake, we will have a Make Up Portrait Day in December.

  • Gr.      2/3 parents are invited to the Principal’s Tea on Wednesday, November 6, 7:00-8:00      pm in the APR.  Please      feel free to send Mr. Meiners any questions via email ( [email protected] ) or      note for topics you would like to have addressed.  This is an informal evening that      provides you with an opportunity to ask questions that are specific to the      Gr. 2/3 programs.
