Given recent events and feedback from the last few PTA speakers on cyber-safety and fostering overall respect in our children, the PTA board has put together a talk on Cyber-Safety for Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. in the media center. This dynamic talk will include speakers who can specifically address cyber-safety and the growing trend of social media for elementary school-aged children. Please note that recent media attention and events in our own BMES community support that this is not a subject limited to “older” kids. This will be useful and relevant information for parents of K-5 aged children.
In the meantime, we have created a special “Cyber Safety” section on the Links page of the website for information on cyber-safety.
Also, parents need to remember that no cell phones are allowed at school without a special waiver from Mrs. O. And even those that are allowed can only be used as a phone – no emails or pictures allowed – and only before or after school. Educate yourself about cyber-safety, talk to your children, and please reinforce the school’s no cell phone policy with your children.
