- Portrait Make-Up Day is Friday, November 30, 2012, for those students who were absent on picture day and those who desire a retake. Extra order forms are available in the office, but no order form is necessary for students who desire a retake. Just return the original portrait package directly to the photographer at the time of retake.
- Attention Gr. 5 Parents, the class panoramic photo will be taken on Friday, November 30, 2012, at 10:00 am. Watch backpacks for order forms.
- The student government is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys for their Holiday Toy Drive, November 26-December 7. The greatest need is for toys appropriate for children ages preschool through middle school. Your donations will go to local families. Please look for a collection box in the main hall.
- If you are considering holiday gifts for teachers, please keep in mind that, according to the Montgomery County Board of Education revised Ethics policy, employees may not accept gifts that exceed $20 in value, which is a decrease from the $25 previously allowed. An alternative way to honor a teacher is a tax deductible donation to the Bells Mill Bear Hug fund which helps families right in our community. You can send in a check made payable to Bells Mill Bear Hug Fund and specify the name of the teacher you wish to honor. Teachers receive a special card notifying them of your donation, and you receive a receipt for tax purposes.
- The MCPS Parent Academy is offering a workshop on Cybersafety and Social Media, Wednesday, November 28, 7:00-8:30 pm, White Oak MS. Presented in collaboration with the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Montgomery County Police Department, the workshop will focus on safety issues related to computer and cell phone use. For information, visit http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/parentacademy/ or contact the Division of Family and Community Partnerships at 301-279-3100.
- Help victims of Hurricane Sandy. The 5th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 1639 placed collection jars in classrooms. Please send in your spare change now through November 30. No amount is too small and your support is very much appreciated.
- The 5th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 1639 is sponsoring a Coat, Scarf, Glove & Mitten Drive, November 15-December 7, to help National Center for Children and Families in Bethesda. Please dig into your closets and donate items that you no longer use (no hats please). Look for a collection box in the main hall.
Thank you for being partners in your child’s education.
