- Thank you to all of our families for an incredible school year! The year has certainly flown by and it just doesn’t seem possible that it is already the end of the year. We hope all of our families have an enjoyable summer and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in August. Please watch the Bear Mail at the beginning of August for important information about the new year. We also want to wish Mrs. Easton all the best as she begins her retirement after serving and working with the children and staff at Bells Mill for 38 years. She will be greatly missed.
- Gifted and Talented information will be coming home in backpacks to Gr. 2 parents and parents of Gr. 3, 4 and 5 students who were either new or rescreened this year. Check your child’s backpack for a letter from school containing the Gifted and Talented testing information and instructional recommendations for next year. The information is based on the InView Assessment that your child took in December. Using the assessment data and information from parent surveys, teacher survey, staff advocacy forms and reading and math levels, instructional recommendations were made for your child for next year. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the letter, please contact the school before the end of the year. Staff will be available until June 16 to answer your questions. Remember to check backpacks.
- A message from the cafeteria, for the remainder of the school year salad bar is no longer available as a lunch choice. The cafeteria will continue to offer 1 regular and 1 alternate lunch choice each day. We hope to have the salad bar available in the fall.
- Monday, June 9, will be the last day to buy raffle tickets for the Bake Sale Raffle that Ms. Wolfe’s class is sponsoring. All proceeds go to Share Our Strength to support programs that support children living with hunger in the United States. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 5 for $20. Winning raffle tickets will be drawn on Tuesday and delivered to classrooms on Wednesday.
Ms. Wolfe’s class would like to offer a thank you to everyone who stopped by their Bake Sale at Giant last Sunday and to those who purchased raffle tickets. Bake Sale and raffle ticket sales have earned over $1,000.
- Our own fifth grader, Julia Taylor, was one of only 2 safety patrols in Montgomery County to be honored at the Washington region 2014 Outstanding AAA School Safety Patrol Awards Program. Julia was nominated by Mr. Leffler and Mr. Romans. She received her award at a ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. Congratulations, Julia! We are proud of you.
