  • Our first early release day is Friday, September 28, at 1:00 pm.  Please make sure your child is aware of his/her dismissal plans.  We will begin dismissing walkers around 12:55 and buses as they arrive.  Bar-T before and after care will be in session on the afternoon of the half day.  There are no after school activities on early release days.

  • We need all of our parents to follow the guidelines during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup.  It is imperative that you adhere to the directions in order to provide a safe environment for our students.  This area is a kiss and drop in the morning.  Please pull up in the drop off line and allow the patrols to assist your child in getting out of the car.  Please allow your child to exit the vehicle on the passenger side of the car closest to the school building.  Parents should not be exiting the vehicle.  Once your child is out of the car, please pull forward.  In the afternoon we ask that you park and remain in your vehicle.  Students will come to you.  Once your child is in the car, you may pull away from the curb.  Kindergarten parents must park in the lot, meet your child at the gym entrance and then escort your child to the vehicle.  If you are planning on meeting your child on the sidewalk, then we ask that you park your car in the lot, meet your child at the front entrance, and then escort your child to your vehicle.  Thank you for following these directions.  This allows all to be safe.

  • By now every 3rd Grade parent/guardian should have received an application form for the Elementary Centers for the Highly Gifted (HCG).  These forms were mailed directly to homes from MCPS.   The application deadline is November 2, 2012.  Please follow the instructions for mailing the form to MCPS.  Do not return the form to school, as this will only delay the process.  Applications can also be found at:  www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/specialprograms/admissions/applications.aspx .  There will be two Parent Information Meetings:  October 3 at Wheaton HS and Oct. 10 at Quince Orchard HS.  Both meetings will take place at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  Interested parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend.

  • On October 3 we will participate in the county-wide Walk to School Day.  This event is part of Safe Routes to School, a program to create safer walking and biking routes so parents are comfortable allowing their children to walk and bike to school. To ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in this event, we are asking parents who normally drive their child to school to have their children walk to school on October 3.  If you feel that you must drive your child to school on that day, please drop your child off at Cabin John MS. Bells Mill staff and patrols will be onsite to escort students as we walk to school together.

  • If you have volunteered to be a room parent, please plan on attending an orientation on Tuesday, October 2, 6:30-7:00 pm, in the Media Center.  The first PTA meeting of year will immediately follow at 7:00 in the APR.

***Thank you for being partners in your child’s education***
