Annual BMES Walk for the Homeless

Be sure to ask your child what he/she learned about homelessness today!

Students will be participating in an educational presentation about homelessness during their lunches Thursday, October 10th, to understand why we host a Walk for the Homeless. Our walk will take place at school, Thursday, October 17th at 2:30 pm.

Club Bells Mill — This Saturday Night — A Few Volunteer Slots Remain

 

This year’s FIRST Club Bells Mill is Saturday Night!!!!

Drop your kids off for two hours of fun with their friends on four Saturday nights this school year. Each Club Bells Mill runs from 6pm-8pm and includes music, arts and crafts, bouncy castles, and games. Pizza and snacks are available for a small cost ($2 slice/$1 drink).

PTA Meeting October 1 — Details and Agenda

The first PTA meeting is this coming Tuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m. in the media center. There will be a brief business meeting followed by a school safety and security briefing by Mr. Meiners (acting principal), Ms. Hall-Bell (Assist principal) and Mr. Mike Harting (School Safety and Security Coordinator for the Churchill cluster).

There is a mandatory room parent meeting at 6:30 in the media center.

Last Chance for Fall Enrichment Activities!
Whether your child loves high-energy activities, art, language, math or science, we’re sure to have some enrichment program of interest. The fall lineup of before- and after-school activities includes cooking, drama, physics, kung fu, lego and classes in Chinese, French and Spanish language that align with the Montgomery County curriculum. We recently added beginning guitar on Tuesdays.
Most activities began this week, but there may be areas with some availibility, so this is your last chance to sign up!

Odyssey of the Mind — Mandatory Parent Mtg, 9/19 @ 7:30

Attention Gr. 1-5: we will introduce Odyssey of the Mind on Thursday evening, September 19 from 7:30-8:30 in the Media Center. Odyssey of the Mind demonstrates that creativity can be taught, stimulated and improved with practice. Students use their artistic, theatrical and engineering skills to create new solutions to intriguing problems; they learn to “think outside the box” and develop valuable skills that will be essential for success in the 21st Century.
