  • Mrs. Vinson and the 4th/5th grade chorus have been working hard to prepare for their   annual Winter Concerts on Thursday, December 6.  There will be a 2:00 pm performance for all grade levels and a 7:00 pm performance for families and friends.

  • Tired of eating turkey? Join us at Potomac Pizza in the Village on Wednesday, December 5, 4:00 pm to closing, for great food, good company and to help BMES raise money. Dine-in or carry-out and Potomac Pizza will donate 20% of the proceeds back to the PTA (does not include delivery sales). Please make sure to tell your server that you are with Bells Mill!

  • The student government is asking for donations of new, unwrapped toys for their Holiday Toy Drive, now through December 7.   The greatest need is for toys appropriate for children ages preschool through middle school.  Your donations will go to local families.  Students should bring their donations to their classrooms.

  • Congratulations to Grade 2 students for their museum show.  Parents, students and teachers enjoyed seeing the many rare and interesting artifacts that were on display.

  • Thank you to all who donated to the Junior Girl Scout Troop 1639 Coin Drive to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.  Over $400 was collected at Bells Mill and Long and Foster will make a matching donation.

  • If you are considering holiday gifts for teachers, please keep in mind that, according to the Montgomery County Board of Education revised Ethics policy, employees may not accept gifts that exceed $20 in value, which is a decrease from the $25 previously allowed.  An alternative way to honor a teacher is a tax deductible donation to the Bells Mill Bear Hug fund which helps families right in our community.  You can send in a check made payable to Bells Mill Bear Hug Fund and specify the name of the teacher you wish to honor.  Teachers receive a special card notifying them of your donation, and you receive a receipt for tax purposes.

  • The 5th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 1639 is sponsoring a Coat, Scarf, Glove & Mitten Drive through December 7 to help the National Center for Children and Families in Bethesda.  Please dig into your closets and donate items that you no longer use (no hats please).  Look for a collection box in the main hall.

Thank you for being partners in your child’s education.
