                                    Principal’s Tea for K-1 Parents, 7:00-8:00 pm, APR           

           

  • Open House is Monday, October 14.  Parents are invited to visit your child’s classroom from 9:15 to 11:30 am.  Please enter through the main doors and sign in.  We request that younger siblings not attend.  It will be necessary for you to park on the street that day. We look forward to having you join us for morning instruction.

 

  • Beginning Monday, October      14, the Bells Mill cafeteria will offer a Salad Bar as a part of the lunch      time menu.  A few details:
    • Initially we will begin with 4th and 5th       graders, and in subsequent weeks we will offer it to the remaining grades       as we get used to it.
    • Students purchasing a lunch will be able to visit the salad bar       as a part of the purchased lunch for no extra charge.
    • The salad bar will replace the side items that go along with the       main entrée, or students can continue to choose the side items and not       the salad bar; their choice.
    • The salad bar will include vegetables that are typically found on       salad bars.  Several dressings will       be offered.
    • The salad bar will be offered 5days a week. Additionally,       students may purchase a salad separately at a cost of 43 cents per       ounce.  No preordering required.

 

  • The Bells Mill Book Fair opens on October 14 in the Media Center.  All proceeds from book sales go directly to the purchase of reading and math materials for teachers and the media center.  The Book Fair opens on Monday, October 14, at 10:30, and runs through Thursday, October 17, at 1 p.m.  Evening hours are on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 15 & 16, 6:30-8:30 pm.  Please check backpacks for more details.

 

  • Girls in Grades 1-8 are invited to participate in the Churchill Poms Mini Camp, Friday, October 18, 10:30 am-1:00 pm at Churchill HS.  There is no school on that date.  Cost is $25 and includes instruction, set of poms and a picture to remember the day.  Contact Melissa Lichter at [email protected] .

  • Picture Day is Tuesday, October 22.  All students will be photographed for the yearbook, but only those submitting a completed order form and payment to the photographer on picture day will receive a portrait package.  Parents may also pay online at www.mylifetouch.com.  Look for order forms in backpacks.

 

  • K-1      parents are invited to the Principal’s Tea on Wednesday, October 23,      7:00-8:00 pm in the AP Room.  Please      feel free to send Mr. Meiners any questions via email ( [email protected] ) or      note for topics you would like to have addressed.  This is an informal evening that      provides you with an opportunity to ask questions that are specific to the      K-1 programs.

 

  • FREE      flu mist vaccines will be offered to children between the ages of 3 and      18, November 1, 9:00 am- noon, at Kennedy, Richard Montgomery and Seneca      Valley High Schools. In order to participate in this      program the families need to make an appointment by visiting www.montgomerycountymd.gov/flu  or calling 311.
  • Thank      you to all parents who helped with Walk to School Day.  Thankfully, the weather cooperated, and      we enjoyed a brisk to school.  A      great way to start the school day!

 

  • Attention Grade 3 Parents:  The Elementary Centers for the Highly Gifted application deadline is November 8, 2013,  Follow instructions for mailing the form to MCPS.  Please do not return the form to school, as this will only delay the process. Applications are available at:  http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/specialprograms/elementary/highly-gifted-centers.aspx .  There will be two Parent Information Meetings:  October 22at Northwest High School and October 24at Wheaton High School.  Both meetings will take place at 7:00 pm in the school auditorium.  Information about the parent meetings is also included in the application materials that parents received.  Interested parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend.

 

  • Attention      Grade 5 Parents: Middle School Magnet program applications and Middle      School Magnet Consortium choice forms are due November 8, 2013.  Please visit the MCPS website for more      information, www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/specialprograms      .  There is one remaining Parent Information Meeting: Tuesday      October 22, 7:00 pm, Eastern MS (Humanities and Communication).

 

  • Save the Date! MCPS State of the Schools Event is set for November 11.  Superintendent Joshua P. Starr will deliver his second State of the Schools address on Monday, November 11, at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, Bethesda. MCPS parents and community members are invited to join Dr. Starr as he shares his vision for preparing all students for success and we celebrate the outstanding students of Montgomery County Public Schools. This free event will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. and will feature artwork and performances by MCPS students.
