  • Congratulations to the kindergarten teachers,      Mrs. Kanter, Mrs. Vincenty, Mrs. Easton and our phenomenal PTA for a great      Kindergarten Orientation.  We welcomed 91 new incoming kindergarten      students for next year.  It was an      exciting two days of meeting and greeting the children and their families.  We are already looking forward to a      great 2013-14 school year! As new neighbors move in over the next few      months we need your help in sending families to us to register their      children for the fall.

  • April 25 is Take Your Child to Work Day.  If your child      will be absent from school for all or part of the day, send a note to your      child’s teacher at least one day before the absence.  Also, please be sure to call the office      to report the absence.  For the      safety of the children, we want to accurately account for all absentees.

  • This is a      reminder that Geography Bowl quizzes will be administered during the week      of April 22.  Students should finish their packets      before the quiz.  The Gr. 4 students will take the quiz on Tuesday,      April 23.  Gr. 3 and 5 class quiz dates are to be announced.  The PTA needs volunteers.  To volunteer visit http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20F0F45A4A87-geography      .

  • Order the Bells Mill      yearbook online at ybpay.lifetouch.com      .  Enter job # 11371913 which will take you to a secure      order site for Bells Mills ES.  The      cost per yearbook is $22.  From      March 23 to April 12 the cost is $27.       Please order by April 12.

  • Register now for Camp Bells      Mill for Bells Mill students entering K through 5.  Camp      will be held July 8-26, 8:30 am to noon.       Visit the Bells Mill website to download a registration form, and      return the form with payment to the office.

  • Learn about educational      services and resources in MCPS to help students on the autism spectrum      succeed.       “Extraordinary Minds in MCPS” is a forum for parents to learn how      students with autism are educated, sponsored by MCPS Department of Special      Education Services and Partnership for Extraordinary Minds (xMinds), Tuesday,      April 23, 2013, 6:30-9:00 pm, Earl B. Wood MS, 14615 Bauer Dr.,      Rockville.  Visit www.xMindsinMCPS2013.eventbrite.com      for more information on the sessions, to register and to enter to win      raffle prizes.  Registration is      helpful but not necessary.

  • MCPS Regional Elementary      Summer School Programs are      offered at various locations throughout the county, July 9-August 2, for      students entering K-5.  No      transportation is provided.       Registration forms are available online at www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/extendedhours/summerschool      .

  • Bells Mill’s Odyssey      of the Mind teams need your help.  In late May our teams will move on to      compete in the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals in East Lansing, Michigan.       Travel and registration costs are high, and they need our help to get      there. Every little bit helps, and donating is quite easy.      Just visit  https://bellsmill.org, and click on the      green “Donate” button in the upper left-hand section of the      website (next to the Join 2012-2013 PTA button).  When you see the      option for special instructions, put in a note that your donation is for      Odyssey of the Mind (otherwise it will go into the general PTA      fund).  This mechanism can only be used through May 6,      so please go to the website soon if you would like donate.

  • MCPS has launched a new mobile-friendly website that allows      visitors an optimal viewing experience whether they are using a computer,      tablet, or smartphone. The site is built using responsive web design      that adjusts the site for whatever device is being used. Currently, the      MCPS home page (www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org)      and all of the top-level pages on the MCPS website are in the new      mobile-friendly format. While the new website is not an “app,” an icon may      be placed on the home screen of most devices. This may be done simply be      calling up the site and clicking “Add to Home Screen.”

To view how to add an icon on an iPhone or iPad, visit www.apple.com/ios/add-to-home-screen/

  • Grade 4 Girl Scouts are holding a drive from April 22      to May 3 to collect items for the Humane Society.  The most needed items are clean      towels, sheets, blankets, comforters and small bathroom rugs.  Please clean out your linen closets and      help a good cause.  Look for a      collection box in the front hall.
