- The Churchill Cluster is scheduled to meet with the Board of Education for an open dialogue/discussion on topics of interest to our cluster. Our community is invited to the meeting, Wednesday, March 6, 7:00 pm, at Churchill HS. We will provide more details when they become available.
- Grade 2 parents, we are in the process of gathering information about your child including screening for gifted and talented programming, student performance and cognitive assessments. This information will help us plan for the next school year. We want to consider information you can provide to plan your child’s instructional program. Sometime during the week of February 25 you will receive the parent input form in the mail. Please return the completed form to school within one week of receiving it. We will use this information in planning your child’s instructional program and class placement for the 2013-14 school year. Questions, Ms. Taylor at 301-469-1046.
- Grade 3 parents, you are invited to a meeting to learn about Math Curriculum 2.0 for the next school year. At the meeting you’ll also learn about the decision tree for identifying students for the compacted curriculum. The meeting is on Monday, March 11, 7:00-8:00 pm, Media Center.
- Grade 4 parents, you are invited to a meeting to learn about Math Curriculum 2.0 for your students as they transition from Grade 4 to Grade 5, Tuesday, March 5, 6:00-7:00 pm, Media Center.
- Grade 5 parents, you are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, February 26, 6:00 pm, in the Media Center, to learn about the Family Life unit that will be presented to 5th graders.
- The Head Start class photo is scheduled for Friday, March 1, 11:00 am. Order forms were sent home in backpacks. Extra forms are available in the office.
- Attention parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, Maryland State Assessments (MSA) are administered in March to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. We encourage students to eat a healthy breakfast, come to school on time, and be well-rested for testing. Testing will last all morning. Students who are absent due to illness will have the opportunity to make up all or part of the tests. Parents, please refrain from making appointments for your students during these important testing dates:

- The 4th annual Bells Mill Black History Celebration will be held on Monday, February 25, 7:00-8:30 pm, in the APR. Students will present Black History facts, original poetry, and step and jazz performances. Dinner will be provided. FREE! Please come and help us celebrate the diversity of Bells Mill. Thank you to the Scotland Community for hosting this event.
- The Churchill Cluster Schools are sponsoring a Black History Month Celebration on “Parent Engagement” on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. The meeting will be held in the APR at Cabin John Middle School. This will be a special evening with memorable conversation and entertainment. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Timothy Warner, MCPS Chief Engagement and Partnership Officer. There will be a question and answer segment. Refreshments will be served. - Beginning March 1, the Head Start Program will accept applications for their pre-K program. Students must be income eligible and four years of age by September 1, 2013. Information/applications, call the Head Start office at 301-230-0676.
- All 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are invited to participate in the Geography Bowl. Study packets will be handed out to students on March 15. Students who wish to try out for their class team will take a quiz during the week of April 22 (all students who take the quiz will receive a prize). The four top scorers in each class will comprise the class team. Teams will compete in the Geography Bowl May 21-23. The class with the winning team will receive a Baskin-Robins ice cream party.
