- Due to last week’s weather-related delays and closings, class and group/club photos have been rescheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, February 19 and 20. Please use the order forms that were sent home before the original dates. Extras are available in the office. Please note, these groups/clubs have already been photographed: Patrols; SERT; Best Buddies; Ambassadors; 4th/5th gr. Instrumental Music; and, 4th/5th gr. Chorus.
- Attention Gr. 5 parents, you are invited to an orientation at Cabin John Middle School (CJMS) on Wednesday, February 6, 7:00 pm. You will learn about CJMS and review the registration process for the classes in which your child will be enrolled as a Gr. 6 student. Snow date is Thursday, February 7, 7:00 pm.
- Attention parents of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders, Maryland State Assessments (MSA) are administered in March to students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grades. We encourage students to eat a healthy breakfast, come to school on time, and be well-rested for testing. Testing will last all morning. Students who are absent due to illness will have the opportunity to make up all or part of the tests. Parents, please refrain from making appointments for your students during these important testing dates:

- Saturday School, offered by the George B. Thomas Learning Academy, offers academic instruction that is aligned with the MCPS curriculum. Saturday School is taught by certified teachers at 12 locations throughout the county. Programs are for students in Gr. 1-12. Registration fee is $30 for FARMS students/$50 for non-FARMS students. - Beginning March 1, the Head Start Program will accept applications for their pre-K program. Students must be income eligible and four years of age by September 1, 2013. Information/applications, call 301-230-0676.
- MCPS families have an opportunity to purchase a specially-priced piano or keyboard through an agreement with Schaeffer’s Piano Company. The liquidation sale will take place February 16-18 at 105 N. Stonestreet Ave., Rockville, by appointment only. Call 301-424-1147.
- Registration is open for the 2013 winter session of the MCPS Parent Academy. Parent Academy workshops give parents useful tips and tools to support their children’s success in and out of school. A wide array of topics will be covered during the winter session including college and career readiness, effective parenting skills, cyber safety and social media. - Mark your calendars. Camp Bells Mill will take place again this summer, July 8–July 26, 8:30 am-noon, for incoming kindergarteners through rising fifth graders. Our camp is taught by Bells Mill staff and helps prepare our students for the upcoming school year. In March students will bring home letters containing registration/tuition information.
- Visit the Maryland Summer Centers website for course offerings, sites and application forms for summer programs that are sponsored by the Maryland State Department of Education. - The 4th annual Bells Mill Black History Celebration will be held on Monday, February 25, 7:00-8:30 pm, in the APR. Students will present Black History facts, original poetry, and step and jazz performances. Dinner will be provided. FREE! Please come and help us celebrate the diversity of Bells Mill.
- It’s not too late to register for Builders of the Future, a Montgomery College one-day enrichment program for students in Gr. 4-6, Saturday, February 9, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Germantown Campus. Students will have an opportunity to design and create electromechanical devices, Lego buildings,woodworking and other projects.
