Book Fair — Call for Volunteers, More Details

The Bells Mill Scholastic Book Fair is next week. By now, your child should have come home with the preview flyer and a letter with more information.

VOLUNTEERS:

We still need parent volunteers to help with this fun and enriching program. We promise, it’s really fun to help kids pick out books! Click here to sign up.

FAIR HOURS AND LOGISTICS:

We always get an “ALL STAR” selection of books from Scholastic – from timeless classics to hot-off-the-press new releases – that we can’t wait for you to see and share with your child. This year, we will be accepting pre-orders for Diary of a Wimpy Kid 7: The Third Wheel, due out November 13. Highlights of this year’s Scholastic Book Fair include:

*        Book Fair Hours – We open for business during the School’s Open House on Monday, October 8 at 10:30 a.m.—please be sure to swing by after visiting your child’s classroom! New this year is two sessions of evening hours.

  • Monday, 10/8/12 – 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 10/9/12 – 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.*
  • Wednesday, 10/10/12 – 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.*
  • Thursday, 10/11/12 – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

*All children must be accompanied by a parent for evening book fair hours

*        Student Previews – Your child will visit the book fair with his/her class.  Each student will have an opportunity to create a personal wish list of items to bring home and review.

*        Teacher Wish Lists – Our teachers and staff are creating wish lists of books they would like to have in their classrooms.  If you would like to donate a book, please review the wish list board at the book fair. You may also purchase a gift certificate in any amount for a specific teacher/staff member.

*        All for Books – Again, this year, we are participating in the “All for Books” program.  All money collected goes toward buying books for our school.  Furthermore, Scholastic matches the monetary donations collected by our school, with a donation to three national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping kids and families in need. Send in loose change or small bills in an envelope or drop it by the media center.
