The Bells Mill PTA is proud to help coordinate a variety of before and after-school enrichment opportunities for our students. From chess to sports and science, there’s something for everyone to enjoy (indoors) during the cold winter months!
Important Note: All activities are run by outside providers—not the school or PTA—so families must contact vendors directly with any questions. These programs manage their own schedules, student supervision, and safety protocols.
Winter 2025-2026 Programming
Pottery with Jimmy Potter’s Workshop— This winter, young artists will embark on a cultural journey through the enchanting world of Arctic wildlife. As they create beautiful pottery inspired by these remarkable creatures, they’ll learn about the diverse traditions and stories from cultures that celebrate winter and its inhabitants. Brit-Am Indoor Soccer—The Brit-Am after-school player development program is a chance for boys and girls in K-3rd grade to play soccer after school with classmates. Link to Register (Mondays) K-3rd
Chess Club—Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess, Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. All chess supplies provided. All skill levels are welcome. Link to Register (Tuesdays) K-5th
STEM FUNdamentals using LEGO – Get ready for the deep freeze this winter! Apply concepts in engineering and architecture to brave the challenges of winter weather. Design and build motorized contraptions such as snowplows, gondolas, and a snowball launcher with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor and tens of thousands of LEGO® pieces. Taylor Swift Creative Writing Class – Students will explore the captivating art of storytelling through the study of Taylor Swift’s Life of a Showgirl lyrics (kid-friendly version, of course :). This creative space will allow for Swifties to learn about her narrative tools and creative inspirations, providing an opportunity for students to explore and create their own personal narratives. Basketball—Have fun playing basketball with the DMV Rebels. Players will be challenged according to their ability, and we will combine basketball skill work and development with fun competitive games while working to build complete players. Link to Register (Thursdays in December only) K-5th
Kaizen Karate – Your child will learn the beautiful art of karate while gaining safety and defensive skills in a respectful environment. The class will also emphasize the basic karate principles of focus, patience, and self-discipline. Link to Register (Fridays) K-5th
