  • Attention      volunteers, all Bells Mill volunteers are invited to our annual Volunteer      Breakfast on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, 8:30-9:30 am, in the      staff lounge.  Each year we take      this opportunity to show our appreciation for all you do.  If you have helped in the classroom,      monitored recess, chaperoned a field trip, tutored a child, or helped in      any way, please be our guest.  Send      RSVP forms to the main office or call 301-469-1046.

  • Field Day will      be on Friday, May 17, 9:30-11:45 am (rain date is May 24).  Please mark your calendars.  It is important that your children dress      appropriately for physical activities.       This means wearing loose clothing, athletic shoes and sun      block.  We encourage students to      bring a water bottle that they can refill at the water fountain.  Parents are welcome to come and cheer      for their students.

We are changing our security procedures for Field Day.  Since we expect a large amount of visitors, we will not scan drivers’ licenses. All visitors will enter through the main doors, sign in at the table with Ms. Vincenty, receive a visitor sticker, and proceed to the playground.  These procedures are in accordance with MCPS security policies for large events. The gates to the basketball court will be locked.  If you notice anyone on the playground who is not wearing a visitor sticker, we ask that you please direct them to the office.

  • The      staff and I wish to thank      all our families for making Staff Appreciation Week so special.  We were treated to      delicious food, beautiful flowers, warm wishes, teddy bears and gift cards      from the Bells Mill community.  A      special thank you to Haylie Iseman for coordinating this wonderful week.

  • The Media Center needs volunteers.  Any amount of time you can volunteer is      truly needed and greatly appreciated.  The Media Center has a variety      of volunteering opportunities on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday      afternoons (after 12:30). No prior experience is necessary, and Mrs. Floyd      will provide training.

  • Please remember to replenish      your child’s lunch account.  Now is a good time to make a deposit      that will cover lunches through the end of the school year.  Any remaining balance will carry over to      next year.

  • We enjoyed a wonderful evening      of great food, entertainment and activities at International Night.  Thank you to all who sponsored      countries, volunteered for setup and cleanup, and especially to Sabina      Broadhead and Raxa Gokani Harris for organizing the event.

  • You can sponsor a deserving child      for Camp Bells Mill.  Send in your      tax deductible contribution (checks made payable to Bells Mill Bear Hug Fund), and your donation will help defray      the cost of tuition for a deserving child.       You will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

  • We still need used tennis balls to      use as floor protectors on student chairs.       Please send in as many as      you can.

  • Please note that the last day for      the Wednesday activity bus is May 15.  There will be no      Wednesday late bus after that date.

  • Check out the Lost & Found area on the stage for your child’s missing belongings.  Any remaining items will be donated to charity when school ends in June. We also have many pairs of eyeglasses in the office.

  • Thanks to Regal Cinemas in Rockville for donating the popcorn for the 5th grade plays.

  • Don’t Miss the Gaithersburg Book Festival.  Montgomery County Public Schools is proud to be a partner in the 2013 Gaithersburg Book Festival (GBF) on Saturday, May 18, on the grounds of Gaithersburg City Hall. The GBF has a great lineup of authors and activities for children of all ages. Several members of the MCPS community will be conducting readings at the festival and there will be many programs, workshops, and activities in the Children’s Village that are designed to promote interest in reading and writing. Montgomery County Public Schools will also have a booth at the event with news and information about the district and staff members who can answer your questions. For more information about the GBF, visit gaithersburgbookfestival.org/.
