Dear Bells Mill Community,

As we wrap up the school year, I wanted to share my appreciation to the parents, teachers, administrators and broader school community who supported PTA this year. We are lucky to have strong membership, generous supporters, and dedicated volunteers committed to our school.

With your help we were able to support more than 50 programs and activities to support our children’s education and student experience at Bells Mill. If you volunteered for a PTA committee and have any expenses to submit to reimbursement, please see below! Friday, June 16th is the last day to submit expenses for reimbursement from the PTA.  To request reimbursement complete this form and attach the appropriate receipts. Receipts should clearly identify the items you are requesting reimbursement for. You can leave forms and receipts in the PTA box in the main office or email forms and all receipts to [email protected]. 

Celebrating the past and present of the first places African-Americans owned land in Montgomery County, the Scotland community of Potomac, Md., is announcing a significant expansion of its annual Scotland Juneteenth Heritage Festival for 2023. The Scotland neighborhood is a treasured part of our Bells Mill community.

Featuring a children’s carnival and music performance, as well as art exhibitions, food, sports, and presentations on Black history in this region, the events for the federal holiday on Monday, June 19, will be spread across the Cabin John Regional Park, Cabin John Village, and the Scotland community on Seven Locks Road.… Read Full Post

Come celebrate the end of the school year at the PTA Bells Mill Bash tomorrow night at 5:30-8pm! There will be fun and games for all Bells Mill families. Please pre-order wristbands, sign the waiver, and sign up to volunteer! This event is for Bells Mill families only and is not a drop-off event.

The PTA is excited to purchase two funnel ball hoops for Bells Mill for outdoor recess. They will installed for next school year. Thank you to Mrs. Kemp and Mr. Tom for helping navigate MCPS requirements and Mrs. Over for helping with the ordering. We’re excited for our students to have additional infrastructure during recess!

It was great to see so many kids playing and families getting a chance to meet or catch up. Thanks to the parents who volunteered for our Breakfast with Bears last week — Jessica McClellan, Erin Penfold, Deb Palisin, Virginia Runko, Youngshin Kim, Jenna Dean, Andrew Dean, Daniela Abeid, Ugo Nwadike, Gina Hidalgo, Emily Turek, Aruni Liyanage, Heather Lazott, and Yasaman Hekmat.

On Friday, May 26 the PTA will sponsor an assembly for all students (during the school day) to mark Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. The Chua Lion Dance Team will provide an instrumental performance and tell the Lion Story and discuss its cultural significance. They will also “awaken” the lion in a special ceremony and perform the lion dance, including feeding the lion.

Mr. Tom asked us to share this information about field day and the opportunities for parents to get involved! Such a fun day for the school!

Field Day for Head Start/Autism and K- 2nd grade will take place on Thursday, June 1, 2023. Grades 3-5 will have Field Day on Friday, June 2, 2023. Field Day activities will run from 9:45am to 2:30pm.  Field Day is a day where students spend part of the day outside participating in a variety of activities with their classmates.… Read Full Post

The PTA sends its best wishes to the amazing Bells Mill staff as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week! We appreciate your commitment to our students, quality education and partnership. We’ve had a lot of fun celebrating staff this week! We appreciate how our families, room parents, administration and PTA have partnered to show teachers how much they mean to us!

On Sunday students decorated the sidewalk with messages of appreciation! On Monday families brought in flowers to their teacher and Georgetown Cupcake donated cupcakes to staff.… Read Full Post
