The BMES PTA is sponsoring two assembly events at school next week. The Cosmic Adventures Traveling Planetarium is presenting ” A Brief Tour of the Universe” inside a computerized planetarium exploring the deep space, starts, planets and moon phases for the Grade K-3 on March 12 & 13 at the school gym during school hours.

The FINAL Club Bells Mill of the school year is almost here!

Saturday March 10th, 6:00-8:00pm

This is the chance to drop off your kids for 2 hours of fun with friends, dancing to DJ music, participating at arts and crafts, playing gym games, and more while being supervised by parent volunteers!

Included is an interactive science show by Mad Science of Washington at 6:30pm! Bingo Night is here! FUN! FOOD! FAMILY! and PRIZES!
Thursday, March 1st in the APR. Doors open for ticket sales at 6:30. Bingo games start at 7 pm. The charge is $8.00 per person (this cost includes a Bingo card, 2 pizza slices, bottled water and a raffle ticket) Additional items will also be for sale. This year, as many of you are aware, MCPS conducted a pilot program changing the Eastern/Takoma Park magnet application and selection process. MCPS screened the entire 5th grade population of the down county magnet feeder schools, and identified 4000 “potentially qualified” students to test for admission to the 200 spaces in the EMS and TPMS magnet programs. (By contrast, in previous years, approximately 800 students self-selected to test for those spaces.) One of the new selection criteria evaluated whether each student has the “availability of a peer group at the local middle school,” as reflected in the evaluation and test results of a much larger number of students at each middle school than was available in earlier years.… Read Full Post
