MCPS is conducting a boundary study to determine the attendance boundaries for the new Crown High School in Gaithersburg, beginning in the 2027-2028 school year. What is a boundary study, you might ask? CLICK HERE for the FAQs regarding the study which provide some background into why they are doing the study and what it might mean for students at various schools. In short, it affects articulation at middle and high schools around the county, including students at Bells Mill.
The second round of boundary study options were issued on Monday by MCPS. There are four new options, two of which would affect Bells Mill and split the Bells Mill students between Cabin John MS and Herbert Hoover MS. Where your child would go to middle school in each option depends on your home address (the other two options have all BMES students attending Cabin John MS). In all options, all BMES students will end up at Winston Churchill HS, regardless of where they go to middle school.
The BMES PTA has created a questionnaire to hear the school community’s thoughts about this boundary study. We understand this is a very personal decision for families and appreciate you completing the questionnaire; CLICK HERE to complete the questionnaire. The questionnaire will close at 9pm on Friday, October 17. Please limit to one questionnaire per parent. We will be in touch through the Bear Post by Monday, October 20 with next steps including suggested wording to complete the MCPS/FLO Analytics survey and opportunities to advocate for our community.
