Thank you for your generous donations to support the South Lakes ES and Bells Mill ES communities over the Thanksgiving holiday. While donations started slowly, in the end we were able to donate more than 130 Thanksgiving Meal Relief boxes to families in the two communities! MCPS will host a series of virtual conversations with the Literacy Council of Montgomery County (LCMC) to discuss English as a Second Language classes available for adults. The conversations will be hosted in English, Chinese and Spanish. The LCMC is offering English as a Second Language classes free to MCPS parents and guardians. Thank you to the 211 families and 28 teachers who have joined PTA so far this year! We would like to give a big SHOUT OUT to the entire FIRST GRADE TEAM because all of the first grade teachers joined PTA this year! Remember that PTA membership is annual. Please join or renew today!

Through the PTA, families and teachers work together to enrich the school experience. Our sister school, South Lake Elementary School, in Montgomery Village has asked for our help to provide Thanksgiving meals to 30 families from the school who need assistance. We are also hoping to provide meals for 21 families in our own community. To date we have only collected 16 meals so we could really use your help! Please donate as soon as possible so we can plan our donations, but no later than Sunday.

BMES is in the process of preparing for the school’s PCR drill.  The PCR drill is scheduled to take place on December 8^th from 1:45-3:30  The school needs parent volunteers to assist with the drill.  The school will be practicing how to efficiently hand off children to their caregivers in emergency situations. The drill is imperative as we continue to work through safety and security for Bells Mill. The school needs 27 more volunteers! Global Minds offers three 8-week instructional sessions (Fall, Winter and Spring) throughout the year, and serves as administrators to register students in local Model UN conferences at the U.S. Department of State, universities, high schools and middle schools throughout the DMV area.
