Visit 19 countries in one night! The BMES International Festival will be held on Friday, April 28 at 6-7:30. Visit country displays, watch performances, and make crafts. Please note that this IS NOT a drop off event and all students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Our next PTA meeting will be held on May 2 at 6:30PM in the APR. The agenda will include board elections, approval of next year’s budget, and presentations from the school on preparing your students for moving to the next grade level and the process for class assignments.

It’s hard to believe but we need to think about next year already! While we have several current board members who will be running for re-election, there will be a few open positions to fill. We are looking for PTA board members, including President, Treasurer, and VP for Community Events. Our bylaws require us to form a nominating committee to fill next year’s PTA board. We need to identify at least three volunteers who are current PTA members. The nominating committee will be responsible for formally nominating eligible persons for open PTA board positions and reporting their nominees to the general membership prior to the PTA election at a general membership meeting in May. Students in Grades 3-5 are invited to participate in Geo Bowl 2023! Teachers will be distributing a packet to study and there will be a quiz in mid-May with teams announced in Late May. The GeoBowl will occur in early June!

Due to spring break, FLEX extended registration for spring programs through tonight! The following programs will start this week: Cartoon Drawing (Tues), Pottery for Kids (Wed), Chess Club (Thur), and Fashion Design (Thur).

The annual event will return on Friday, April 28 from 6-7:30 with country displays, cultural dances, crafts and lots of fun! We’re looking for families to host country tables and perform cultural dances. Sign up here for country tables or performances. Thank you to families who joined our PTA meeting on Tuesday for a discussion of upcoming PTA activities, volunteer opportunities and the School of Excellence survey results. The minutes will be posted when they are available and the slides are available here. We welcome your thoughts regarding topics covered in the survey, including:

1. Ways to better recognize and respect diversity?
2. Ways the school could be more welcoming?
3. How would families like to be more involved in decision making? 

Join us at 6:30 PM on Tuesday for a PTA meeting to discuss our National PTA School of Excellence Survey results, learn about upcoming PTA activities and opportunities, and hear important school updates. Zoom info and an agenda will be distributed next week.

MCPS Superintendent Dr. Monifa McKnight will share her vision for MCPS and discuss disturbing recent anti-semetic incidents in county schools. This program is open to the public and intended for all MCPS parents and guardians, teachers, and middle and high school students. It is closed to press.
