The Silver Diner at RIO @ Washingtonian Center is continuing the offer free meals to students and families affected by the school shutdown.
Beginning April 20, 2020, MCPS will adjust its meal service program from operating five days a week to a four-day-per-week schedule. This adjustment is being made in an effort to ensure student and staff safety, and to reduce opportunities for the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). MCPS is not providing meal service during spring break (April 9-13). MCPS meal service will resume on Tuesday, April 14. For a complete list of meal sites, please visit the MCPS Meals Service webpage.
Women Who Care Ministries will provide weekend meals for families on Friday, April 10, from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. at their Montgomery Village site located at 19642 Club House Road, Suite 620, in Montgomery VIllage. More information can be found here.
We’re going to have a socially distanced scavenger hunt! Put a teddy bear in your window or somewhere else visible and ask your children to look for the bears as they walk outside to get exercise. You can even put our Bear Hunt sign up too! Also, make sure everyone knows “You’re always a Bells Mill Bear” by posting one of these signs in a window or in your home school area!

We know the move to distance learning is a big change for everyone. If parents and staff have suggestions for ways that the Bells Mill PTA could support the school and its community, please email us at info@bellsmill.org or reach out a PTA board member (see list here).
In times of uncertainty there are lots of ways – big and small – that we can help each other! Check on your neighbors, call a friend, and be kind to each other. Here are some ideas:
MCPS has established 20 locations where children up to 18 years old can receive a nutritious meal, starting March 16. No appointment is necessary. Meals will be provided in a grab-and-go format, and will be available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The closest location to Bells Mill is the Scotland Community Center, 7838 Scotland Dr, Potomac, MD 20854.
