Last Thursday, Bells Mill ES and the Bells Mill PTA were thrilled to welcome Jamaal “Mr. Root” Collier for an engaging and interactive assembly. Mr. Root introduced our students and staff to the history of hip-hop, Black history in Maryland, freestyling, beatboxing, and the power of speaking and listening. He even incorporated phonics, rhythm, and movement—getting our youngest learners jumping, counting, and fully immersed in the experience.

Celebrate Nowruz at Bells Mill

We’re excited to bring the spirit of Nowruz to Bells Mill! If your family celebrates and you’d like to help by creating a poster to showcase this special holiday, we’d love for you to join us.

Academic Night is Tonight! February 27

Don’t miss the annual Academic Showcase Night this evening. The event will run from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Check out the choice board of activities, and please RSVP for the event HERE

Bells Mill staff also invites incoming kindergarten students and parents (2025-2026) to meet with kindergarten teachers and other school staff. The flier for this opportunity is below.

PTA Weekly Message – Bingo Night Reminders

Our Candyland themed Bingo Night is happening THIS Saturday, February 22, in the APR! Doors open at 5:30 pm, and bingo begins at 6:00 pm. The event is sold out, and unfortunately no tickets will be available at the door due to capacity restrictions.

If you’re attending, get into the Candyland spirit by wearing your grade’s designated color:

  • Kindergarten: Green
  • 1st Grade: Purple
  • 2nd Grade: Red
  • 3rd Grade: Yellow
  • 4th Grade: Pink
  • 5th Grade: Blue

MCCPTA Healthy Sleep Proposed Resolution

The Montgomery County Council of Parent Teacher Associations (MCCPTA) has drafted a Healthy Sleep Resolution which would allow the MCCPTA to further advocate with MCPS and the Board of Education for bell time changes to promote better sleep for adolescents. This is solely a resolution to allow for additional advocacy on this front and to request additional information to make more informed decisions on the impact of bell times at all school levels (elementary, middle and high school).… Read Full Post
