  • Thank you to all      parents who attended our annual Open House.  We hope you enjoyed your visit in your child’s classrooms.
  • We would also like to      thank Mrs. Gerber and all the other parents who planned and held our      annual fall Book Fair.  The selection of books was fabulous      and the students and parents enjoyed shopping for new reading      material.  The book fair was very      successful.  The staff is also very      appreciative of the materials that were donated by our families for their      classrooms.  Thank you for your      generosity and support of the classroom programs.
  • Please      check your child’s backpack on Monday, October 15 for      a letter explaining the Flu Mist clinic that will be offered at Bells Mill      on Thursday November 13 from 1 – 2:30 pm.       You will be receiving information concerning how to contact the      school health room (301-469-1243) to make an appointment.  Please do not call for appointments      until you have received the letter of explanation.
  • The      Innisbrook Fundraiser has been completed.       I am      pleased to announce that we held the drawing for prizes at the school      today.  Students who sold more than      $100 in products was entered in a drawing for an X-Box and those who sold      $50 or more were entered in a drawing for an iTouch.  The winner of the iTouch is Sydney      Levine and the winner of the Xbox is Arman Emani.  Thanks to all families who supported the      PTA fundraiser.
  • Attention      5th grade parents, middle school magnet program applications      and Middle School Magnet Consortium choice forms are due November 2, 2012.  In August a mailing was sent to the      homes of all MCPS Grade 5 students containing information about the magnet      programs. Parents can choose from three information meetings:  Thursday, October 11, Takoma Park MS      (Math, Science, Computer Science); Thursday October 11, Roberto Clemente      MS (Humanities, Communication and Math, Science, Computer Science); and,      Tuesday October 23, Eastern MS (Humanities, Communication).  All meetings begin at 7:00 pm.  Please visit the MCPS website for more      information, www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/specialprograms
  • There is an exciting program happening at Bells Mill!       All 5th Grade students are participating in a leadership      activity at school called “5th Grade Gives Back”.  Each      day, 9 different 5th grade students (3 per homeroom) will      volunteer at Kindergarten lunch and 1st and 2nd Grade recess.  These students will be helping younger students be  safe, have fun, and get along at lunch and recess.  The 5th  grade students and teachers worked together with Mrs. Kanter to create      this unique program.  It starts October 22 and is sure to be a rewarding experience for the 5th grade students as well as the younger  students they are helping.
  • Registration for the Beginner Spanish class on Wednesday afternoons, 3:30-4:30, has been extended until October 15.  Visit the PTA website for information/registration. Contact Nina Price (301)765-8016 with any questions.
  • Attention 3rd grade parents, applications for the Elementary Centers for the Highly Gifted (HCG) are due November 2, 2012.  Please follow the instructions for mailing the form to MCPS.  Do not return the form to school, as this will only delay the process.  Applications can also be found at:  www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/curriculum/specialprograms/admissions/applications.aspx .  There will be a Parent Information Meeting on October 10, Quince Orchard HS, 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  Interested parents/guardians are strongly encouraged to attend.
  • The Media Center welcomes parent volunteers.  If you would like to help in the Media      Center please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A054EA8AF0-media      .
