REFLECTIONS ART PROGRAM

Calling ALL BMES Artists!
Deadline: Wednesday, December 1, 2021

What is the PTA Reflection program?
PTA’s Reflections is a nationwide art program which provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

What is the Student-Selected Theme this year?
The theme for the 2021-2022 program year is I Will Change The World By….

What art categories can students utilize?
Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts.

Is there a limit on the number of entries students can submit?
No, there is no limit and students can create works of art across multiple art categories.

What are the steps for submitting my entry?
1.  Reflect on this year’s theme, I Will Change the World by….
2.  Select your art category and read and follow Summary of Rules
3.  Create your artwork
4.  Fill out the Student Entry Form
5.  Create the appropriate digital format for the art to be emailed:
_____ Dance Choreography and Film Production: MP4, MOV, AVI
_____ Music Composition: MP3 or WAV
_____ Photography and Visual Arts: JPEG, JPG, or PNG
_____ Literature and scores as required for music = PDF
6.  By Wednesday, December 1, 2021, Email Jen Barlow your (a) Student Entry Form and (b) digital artwork file (if the file is too large to send, email me and I will send you a dropbox link).

What happens after I submit my entry?
Only 3 entries per category and grade division can move on to the Montgomery County PTA level (and from there State then National level), so if there are more than 3 entries an independent judge will determine which entries move forward. Grade divisions at the Elementary School Level are Primary (Grades K-2) and Intermediate (Grades 3-5).

In early December a virtual art show and award ceremony will take place to celebrate all the students and their entries (more details to come).

Should I keep my artwork after I turn it in digitally?
Yes!  Normally the artwork moving to the county and state levels is physically collected.  However, due to COVID this may be altered.
