As you know, the impact of mental health and wellness challenges is not limited to select families. Not acknowledging and addressing the challenges impairs learning now and life prospects later. Not talking about them stigmatizes the conditions and becomes a source of stress itself. Mental health challenges from undue stress to more significant material conditions pose risks to the general well-being of our families. We will help connect families, teachers, and students with resources at the forum.
There will be breakout sessions and provider tables staffed by professionals who can connect with:
- Principals-Only Workshop on Trauma-Informed Schools: Led by Gaithersburg Cluster principals Cary Dimmick, Ann Dolan Rindner, and Meredith McNerney, this is a two-hour workshop (2-4 pm) only for MCPS principals and assistant principals. Separate sign-up at the end of regular registration.
- Youth Mental Health First Aid Training provided by EveryMind: Any adult can take it, just register for it at the end of forum registration form. CEUs. Starts 8 am and runs concurrently with the rest of the forum.
- Mock Teen Bedroom Trailer: We were thwarted by snow last year. Not this time.
