Last week, two local families with children attending Cabin John Middle School and Bells Mill Elementary School were severely impacted by a devastating fire. As a result, Amanda and her son Michael, as well as Danielle, Kendall, and their four children—including Brycin, a 3rd grader at Bells Mill–have been displaced from their homes.

MCPS is conducting a second survey to help guide decisions for the 2026-27 school calendar. Survey responses are due by November 30.

The survey asks about three different options, all of which have the same spring break (March 26 to April 2).
Draft A would start school Aug. 31 and end on June 23.
Draft B would start school Aug. 24 and end on June 15.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the fall festival a success last week! The kids had a blast—both at the parade and the class parties. A special thanks to our wonderful room parent coordinators, Kendra Epstein and Asmaa Seif-Eldin, as well as to all of our room parents.

Congratulations to our 4th graders—winners of our PTA Membership Drive with an impressive 66.3% of the grade joining the PTA! Thanks to everyone’s support, we surpassed our schoolwide goal with 260 members—and earned a popsicle party for the whole school!

Our sister school, South Lake Elementary School, in Montgomery Village, has asked for our help to provide Thanksgiving meals to families from the school who need assistance. We are also planning to provide meals for families at Bells Mill who need help over the holidays.

This year we have made it easier than ever to collect photos for the yearbook! Parents and staff can now upload pictures from school and PTA events and around the community using our new and improved submission link.

Board of Education Representative Julie Yang is hosting a meeting for the Churchill Community to discuss the Crown/Damascus Boundary Options and potential impacts on their school communities. MCPS Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor is invited, and all Churchill Community members are encouraged to attend.
