The Board of Education adopted the school year calendar for the 2020-2021 school year during its December 3, 2019 meeting. The school year will begin on Monday, August 31, 2020, and the last day of school is scheduled for Wednesday, June 16, 2021. The calendar includes 182 days of instruction, a 10-day spring break, one full day of planning and professional development at the end of each quarter; and one operational closure in September. Join the Bells Mill PTA for a Parent/Teacher Meeting on Tuesday, December 3rd at 6:30 PM in the Bells Mill Media Center. Free childcare is provided by Bar-T in the APR and we will provide free cheese pizza for students staying at Bar-T.

On Monday, November 25 Bells Mill delivered more than 50 Thanksgiving meals to South Lake Elementary School in Montgomery Village. The SLES then distributed them to families in need of support this holiday. We collected 100% of all the items on our checklist as well as more than $1000 to purchase turkeys. Any leftover funds will be used to support future partnerships between Bells Mill and South Lake. As always, child care will be provided by Bar-T for all students and potty trained siblings. Pizza will be provided for children at Bar-T.
Our Pennies for Patients Program has officially kicked off and will run through December 13th. Your child should have come home with their own collection box and a flyer that explains all of the exciting HERO GEAR students can receive by collecting money. This year, we are also encouraging students to use their online classroom page to make donations so that our school can make our biggest impact ever for the mission of LLS. We’ve got an ever increasing inventory in our Lost & Found! Lunchboxes, clothes and water bottles among other items. During Winter Break, it will all be washed and donated to a local charity – so please encourage your child(ren) to make sure they check for their lost items. Parents are also welcome to come and check. Items are located on the stage ramp.

Many heartfelt thanks go to The Friedson Group for their generous donation of reusable grocery bags for our food drive! This will allow us to package up the meals to feed 50 families for Thanksgiving from our sister school, South Lake Elementary in Gaithersburg!
We’re all set and ready for our BINGO night this Friday! Looks like we’re gonna have a great showing and looking forward to seeing all of our BMES families!
