Boundary Study Update

At the Board of Education meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2026, the Board voted to collectively approve the Superintendent’s recommendation for the Woodward study, Crown study, and regional programs model.

In short, all Bells Mill students will attend Cabin John Middle School together and continue on to Winston Churchill High School.

A few notable changes for the Cabin John/Churchill clusters:
-Seven Locks, Potomac, and Travilah Elementary Schools will be joining Bells Mill at CJMS
-Stone Mill and Cold Spring Elementary Schools, who currently attend CJMS, will go to Hoover with Wayside and Beverly Farms
-Cold Spring will now go to Churchill instead of Wootton for high school

Wootton High School will be relocated to the new Crown Farm site.

The BOE also voted to approve Superintendent Dr. Taylor’s recommendation for a study to analyze possible school consolidations and closures, followed by a study to review and adjust elementary and middle school boundaries countywide. We are tracking the start of this upcoming Elementary School Consolidation and Boundary Study and expect scope decisions to be made this spring. We will keep you updated on the latest information as it becomes available.

Thank you all for your advocacy over these past few months!
