From the PTA—Weekly Message

Thank you to those who have already taken the time to fill out the BMES questionnaire. Based on community feedback (from more than 190 families so far!), the message is overwhelming support for keeping Bells Mill students together at Cabin John MS (options C or D) and not splitting them between two middle schools (options A or B). In particular, options A or B raise significant safety concerns; under these options, children who live within walking distance of Cabin John MS would instead go to Hoover MS, requiring unsafe crossings of a busy Tuckerman Lane for those without bus service, or bus rides for those who live over 1.5 miles from Hoover but could otherwise walk to Cabin John.

We have put together a letter that explains next steps you can take in response to the boundary study and includes links to samples you can use to guide your responses to the MCPS boundary study survey and any emails you would like to send to the Board of Education.

In addition, please join us on Zoom on Tuesday, October 21 at 6:30pm for a Boundary Study Information Session hosted by the Bells Mill PTA Board. Here we will explain, to the best of our ability, the purpose of the boundary study, how it affects our Bells Mill community, and what we can do to advocate for our community as the study progresses. A Zoom link will be shared early next week.
