Celebrate Black History Month—Take Home Activity Below

February is Black History Month, and in 2026 we are celebrating the national theme “A Century of Black History Commemorations.” This theme highlights how Black history has been remembered, honored, and taught for more than 100 years through schools, families, books, celebrations, and community traditions.

Register Now for Girls on the Run

Spring 2026 registration for Girls on the Run is open for ALL sites.

Register now—we have limited spots available.

  • The program is open to girls in 3rd-5th grade.
  • Spring 2026 season will begin the week of March 8th.
  • The standard schedule is two practices per week; schedules may vary by site.
  • The 5K will take place on Sunday, May 17th, at the Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda (see more information on the 5K page).
  • Season ends on Friday, May 22nd

Spring Session Registration for BMES Model UN is Open

Model United Nations (or Model UN) is an authentic simulation of the United Nations General Assembly in which students act as country delegates and engage in acts of diplomacy, negotiation, and decision making. The program is offered through Global Minds, LLC, founded in 2021 by former Bells Mill/Cabin John parents, Audré Park and Shreelata Durbhakula.

Save the Date: Bells Mill Science Fair & STEM Night – March 22

Bells Mill PTA will host a Science Fair & STEM Night on Sunday, March 22! We encourage any interested student to participate in the Science Fair by completing a project and showcasing it that night. We will be sharing more information on what’s required for student projects, along with a link to register your project soon.

Parents, we need your help running exciting and interesting experiments throughout the night. A signup link to volunteer with also be available in the coming weeks.

Mark your calendar for Friday, April 17 for the return of the BMES International Festival. The festival will offer displays, performances and food from around the world that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of our school community! Don’t forget that the PTA offers a $60 reimbursement per country table to help cover food, crafts, decorations, and other materials.
