Super-storms and conference days aside, the PTA has had an exciting past couple weeks at BMES!

Thanks to all the parents who have remembered to track reading logs and to Haylie Iseman and Dana Loube for coordinating our 6th Annual Read-a-Thon. Pizza Party for ALL Students — Friday, November 16

There is a school-wide FREE pizza party on Friday, November 16 for students. This party is for all students (even those who did not participate in the Read-A-Thon) to celebrate all of BMES’s wonderful readers.

When: During regular lunch periods.

What to bring: A drink and/or a snack to go with pizza. We will only be handing out pizza.

Reflections Arts Competition — Submissions Due NEXT Wednesday

2012 PTA Reflections Arts competition — “The Magic of a Moment”

Exciting news, everyone!  If you are in Kindergarten through Fifth grade at Bells Mill Elementary, you are eligible to enter this wonderful arts contest! There are six categories one may submit entries, and the National PTA does not limit the number of entries a student may submit!  So create away!!!!

Entry forms are due 11/14 and art submissions are due on 11/21.

Arts Areas

Students may submit works in any of six arts areas:

●   Dance Choreography                       ●   Musical Composition

●   Film Production                     ●   Photography

●   Literature                      ●   Visual Arts

Health Room Supplies

PTA Updates; Week at a Glance

Thanks to everyone who came to the PTA meeting last night and saw Kelly Dorfman speak. Our next meeting is Tuesday, December 4th.

Lots on the calendar for the next couple weeks — We hope to see you at Family Bingo Friday night (we still need help/bakers)! Don’t forget that next week we have early release on Monday/Tuesday for conferences and a restaurant “day” with Zoe’s on Wednesday. Bakers & Volunteers Needed for This Friday’s Family Bingo Night

Bells Mill Family Bingo Night is next Friday, November 9 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. We will have pizza from Potomac pizza, raffles and BINGO prizes. Cards are $4 a piece. It’s fun for the whole family!

Readathon Wraps Up — Hand in Those Logs! Extras Online

It’s the last week of the 6th Annual Read-A-Thon! Don’t forget to bring your logs on Monday for the week ending Saturday, November 10th.

All grades can participate in this fundraiser where students are encouraged to collect pledges from sponsors (friends and family) for reaching their reading goals over a four week period. Reading goals are specific to the student’s grade level — and all reading counts!
